Last summer was much cooler so he never had the opportunity to wear it. As the weather is hitting 40 again today I pulled it for him to wear, hoping it will help keep him cool.
Its a strange things. It's like hard paper, sort of cardboardy when it's dry. You soak it in water for several minutes. ring it out and put it on your dog and its suppose to help keep him cool for hours. It holds the water in really well and it doesn't drip all over the place which is nice. Buddha has it on in the house and isn't even leaving wet spots on the furniture, yet the coat is still damp and cool to the touch.
Buddha didn't mind it at all and seemed to really appreciate the cooling affect. I'm not sure how great of a job it will do as it doesn't cool his underbelly at all, just his sides and back. I think the cooling of the sides is what helps. When I removed the coat his sides were not wet, just nice and cool.
The one that fits are pugs cost $29.99 plus tax., so wasn't too horribly priced. I wanted one for my big Skully dog but his was almost $100.
They come in a variety of colors and have an adjustable strap for under his belly and around his neck.
The verdict is still out if they work well or not. It looks like its gonna be a hot summer so I'll have a more definite answer in September.
If anyone else has one, I'd love to hear what they think of them. Please don't be shy about commenting!
